About Dr. Padam Lal
“I didn’t grow up in a city. I grew up around animals.”
Not just pets but livestock, farm life, nature. It wasn’t something he chose later. It was always there. Always part of him.
“I’ve always been close to animals. That’s where it started.”
Nine years into veterinary medicine and as part of the inpatient unit, Dr. Padam describes his journey as a rollercoaster. And not the fun, theme park kind. The kind that teaches you things… whether you’re ready or not.
Because inpatient care is where cases stay. Where things are uncertain. Where decisions carry weight.
“I’ve had to make calls where it’s not just about the pet’s health but also the emotional and financial realities of the family. Sometimes, they want to do everything they can… but they simply can’t. And you see it in their eyes.”
Those are the moments that stay.
“I try to help however I can by keeping costs minimal without compromising on care. Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about treatment… it’s about being fair.”
But in between all that intensity, there’s also the everyday chaos of pets being… pets.
“Many times, dogs come in acting completely sick. No energy, full drama. And the moment the visit is over? Back to normal.”
Oscar-worthy performances, truly.
“Sometimes I feel like they just wanted a car ride… or maybe we’re their favourite humans.”
And then there are the smaller, unexpected quirks of the job.
“You don’t realise it, but you start talking in a baby voice all the time. At work… and then suddenly, even with people outside.”
Occupational hazard!
For Dr. Padam, being a vet isn’t about dramatic wins or perfect outcomes but about honesty, balance, and doing right by both the animal and the human standing beside them.
“I just want to continue in this field for as long as I can.”
At home, his journey with animals has been just as personal.
“My favourite was Pappu—a mixed breed pup. A complete gentleman. He passed away in 2023. But like many pets, he left behind something that stays far longer than their time with us.”
And through everything—years of cases, conversations, tough calls—one belief has stayed constant:
“Honesty is the best policy.”
A cliché, maybe. But in this line of work? It’s everything.
Meet Dr. Padam at our Domlur hospital for honest, compassionate care that puts both pets and their people first.

He fought bravely through a sudden and serious illness, and despite every effort, his body had been through too much. We are grateful for the love, care, and compassion shown to him by the doctors and nurses at Cessna who stood by him till the very end.
Our sincere thanks to doctors Parth, Amruth, Malavika, Adarsh, Ramesh, Pawan, Devaraja sir, and all the staff across IPD, Surgery and the rest. Your kindness and care gave our boy a huge fighting chance and we remain indebted.
Run free, sweet boy.
You were loved beyond measure, and you always will be. 🌈
